The Beaufort Scale was devised in 1805 by an Irish-born Royal Navy officer. It measures wind speed, not by numbers, but rather by felt or observed conditions at sea or on land. This piece is a poetic response to the wind, as filmed during a snow storm on Lake Tahoe. The audio includes suggestive readings about the bodily implications of various wind speeds. Rips, caused by the wind, in the mylar structures were marked with red metallic tape and accompany the video install. Link to video on Vimeo here.
