Rocks, blue chalk, pine tar, wood planks, broadsheet
Dimensions variable
Over 300 stones covered in blue chalk were disseminated throughout this prison cemetery and beyond, to create an ephemeral wayfinding system of an overlooked segment of our community. The blue chunks, like atmospheric portals in the landscape, marked the participants’ hands with their deed. Together, we read the names of those buried in the unmarked graves. This piece weighs our complicity in the current penal system and how to respond as neighbors occupying common territory.
